This was a tight-knit team. We read the reviews. So Annie and the rest of the staff started immediately investigating… “Who the hell is Curtis?”

Some time later, Annie came out of the kitchen and glanced over at the bar. At last she saw it- “I AM CURTIS” clear as day, tattooed on the back of Kyle’s milk-steaming-arm. Puzzled, Annie investigated further… Turns out, it was just a poorly spaced homage to IAN CURTIS. ::crickets:: ::fog horn goes whomp whomp::

So Annie relentlessly started calling Kyle “Curtis” and in return, he started calling her Agatha. And then he started bringing americanos to the kitchen labeled Agatha. And then Curtis and Agatha would take americano and smoke breaks together.

Taking a break outside one night during a dinner service, Annie punched, “Y’know, I can’t go out with you. I’m moving to New York.” “Oh yeah?,” Kyle replied, “I’m moving to New York too.”

We started dating shortly after that conversation and 3 years later, we’re writing this from the sofa in our Brooklyn apartment :) Over the last 3 years Kyle has toured the US with his band, signed a record deal and continues to impress Annie with his bartending skills. (A perfect paper plane will always get me. Sue me?) Annie worked in her favorite restaurants in Nashville before moving to New York and now works as the CDC and Creative Director of a Brooklyn culinary studio. Together, we have a truly beautiful home in Bushwick with our dog, Janice. (Who turns 13 this year!) It took us a few years to figure out NYC but we feel like we’re starting to get it. We love the parks, museums, rockaway, surfing, dancing, biking, running through the city (Kyle) walks with Janice (Annie) and spending time on our terrace. (We know how lucky we are!)
